Cahors Le Sid Cosse Maissoneuve, intense, rich, refined, biodynamic Malbec from Cahors. This is an excellent example of Malbec from its spiritual home of Cahors, grown on a particular spot of gravelly soil on the Cosse-Maissoneuve estate. The vines are grown according to biodynamic principles and undergo fermentation in cement, before a 17 month maturation in barrel, a mix of new, 1st and 2nd refill. This full bodied, intense wine has aromas of blackberry and cassis, violets and toastiness from the barrels. It’s complex, dense and rich with supple tannins. If you love Cahors, they don’t come much better than this.
