Chianti Colli Senesi Innocenti, full, juicy, ripe, classic Chianti. This Chianti Colli Senesi made is from Sangiovese and Canaiolo Toscano grapes with a medium period of maceration, Chianti Colli Senesi Innocenti is a little gem. It is great to find a rustic uncompromising Sangiovese at such a reasonable price. A lovely meaty style of Chianti with flavours of spicy ripe cherries, roasted herbs, leather and liquorice. The palate is full and juicy, with great depth and complexity. This wine is a great match for food, from garlic-rubbed steaks to sage-marinated pork, or herby, fennel sausages.

I was recommended this by a friend who knows a lot more about wine than me, but also knows I’m in to full bodied Italian reds. This is maybe more than I would pay for a bottle of wine but it’s still cheaper than many of my favourites and is fantastic. Smooth, with a depth that makes it something to savour this is absolutely worth the price and is right up there with the big boys in terms of quality.
