}CRUZ DEL MAR CREAM Sherry Cesar Florido NV 375ml These guys are a fifth generation producer with the sixth waiting the wings, which would suggest they know a thing or 2 about making a good sherry. Based in Chipiona they are located just outside of the demarcated “sherry triangle”, which could in some way have been a positive given the difficulties with sherry over the last couple of decades.
The bodega sources their grapes from some of the finest vineyards in Jerex of which 75% are Palomino and 25% Moscatel, which is then aged in oak barrels for 5 years using the traditional solera system. Cesar actually created this with his Mother in mind who prefers a slightly sweeter style. The eventual wine is full bodied slightly sweet with notes of dried fruit and toffee. Lovely with blue cheese, foie gras and an array of desserts. I very recently had a glass with a piece of my daughters birthday cake (chocolate) and it was superb. A great little wine for the price!
