Divella Blanc de Blancs Gussago, 100% Chardonnay, Organic wine, Champagne style but better! Alessandra Divella makes wine in Franciacorta however the wines do not carry the name. She is based in Gussago. This region of Gussago lies in the north-western part of Franciacorta, a few hundred metres above sea level. The altitude difference has a huge impact on the style of the wine. She makes only 5000 bottles of this incredible Blancs de Blanc.
Sometimes consumers choose wine because of the appellation. In This case, it is Franciacorta which is a prestigious one in Italy. Alessandra choses not to take the appellation, why? Well small artisan producers like her want to make their own mark, let the quality of the wine speak for itself and build their own individual reputation. Also, they may not agree with the constraints and controls laid down by the appellation which can actually discourage natural production in favour of chemicals.
Alessandra’s forthright and independent approach certainly impacts on the wines which are the finest we have ever tasted from the region. The Divella Blanc de Blancs is pure, fine, delicately biscuity and simply delicious. A celebration every time you open a bottle.
