Being a Single Estate Cognac means that every single drop of Leyrat Congac comes exclusively from their own vineyards, their own wines and their own ageing cellars. This Cognac is from a small remaining batch of very ancient Cognac that has spent more than 45 years in French Limousin oak barrels (which is incredible when you think the average supermarket XO is 5 years old): an amazing and outstanding Cognac at its natural strength.Glory exhibits the fundamental character of Leyrat Cognacs, magnified by exceptional ageing. No caramel or colouring is added. The colour is of old gold, the nose of floral freshness and leafy undertones yielding to fine spice, notably cinnamon and aromas of stewed fruit and quince. A smooth palate with peach and apricot flavours and with a hint of raisin andhoney in an elegant and powerful finish. Francis Abécassis is one of the largest vineyard owners, within the Cognac appellation, with 240 hectares of vines.

Each estate, Leyrat in the Fins Bois Cru and Reviseur in the Petite Champagne Cru, lies on a site which is particularly well exposed to the sun and perfectly orientated, each with their own individual terroir. Both, however, have the chalky soil which is a key to producing elegant and subtle cognacs with great ageing potential. Leyrat Cognacs undergo a triple ageing process, spending 6 months ageing in new oak, and then finishing their ageing in 2 sets of used barrels to give a more delicate finish. All of the bottlings go far beyond the required age statement, with the XO for example including nearly 100 year old Cognacs in the blend. These are outstanding Cognacs to be savoured and enjoyed.
