Grain Noble Marsanne Marie Therese Chappaz 2017 375ml, biodynamic wine, unique vineyard site producing wines of sheer quality, depth and finesse, an outstanding dessert wine to rival any in the world. Les Claives is one of the most difficult sites to cultivate in the Valais, and perhaps even the world. There is no road up to it. It ranges from 450 to 650 meters in altitude. Due to its steep slope, loamy deposits formed by the wind accumulate in the flatter parts while elsewhere, the soil is rocky and dry. The Claives appellation, with its successive terraces, is emblematic of this local hillside. The wines produced here are of exceptional quality and are a labour of passion and love and the Marsanne taken originally from northern Rhone hillsides has adapted very well to the granitic terroir and unique climate to produce fruit of incredible depth, complexity and minerality. A finer bottle of dessert wine would be difficult to find.
