Jurancon Comete Clos Larrouyat, biodynamic wine, gros manseng, camarelet, lean, textured, elegant, complex, mineral, this white wine has it all, absolutely stunning. The area of Jurancon farmed by Maxine and Lucie Salharang is limestone terroir with an eastern exposure. It is not great for sweet wine as the grapes only ripen enough 3 out of ten years. For that reason Maxime produces mainly dry white wine in a region more famous for sweet wine. He does this exceptionally well. The Comete is the top wine and spends a little time maturing in old barrels. Jurancon Comete is so subtle and complex at the same time. Stylistically closer to a white Bordeaux than a Burgundy with medium body, superb fine acidity and subtle stones fruits with layers of minerals. Very versatile but Oysters would be superb with this.
