Lambrusco di Sorbara Radice Paltrinieri, Natural Wine, frothy pink wine from Emilia, unfiltered, rustic, full of flavour and bristling freshness and bubbles. Radice means roots, the roots of these old Lambrusco di Sorbara vines run deep, along with those of the Paltrinieri family. In fact back to the 20s when Achille started the winery. Sorbara gives rise to a flowering anomaly which the yields very low and the quality high. The grape has quite a pale hue giving rise to pinky wines with fresh rose character! Prosecco is dead, there is a new dawn…..Lambrusco!!! Delicious and interesting wine, impossible not to enjoy, particularly with some antipasti of salami and olives!

Ageing Potential This is a wine that is best drunk in youth to maintain its vibrancy and freshness

This 17 hectare estate in the historic Cristo di Sobara has been managed by Alberto Paltrinieri since 1998, reviving the traditions of his grandfather.

Lambrusco is a name that often makes British wine drinkers shudder, but the proper stuff is worlds away from what we are used to over here. Alberto's wines undergo natural refermentation in the bottle, and range from dry, light and vinous, to rich, off-dry sparkling reds. The wines aren't disgorged, but sold with their sediment in the bottle and no added preservatives, keeping the character of the wine in tact. His wines are sometimes described as love-children of wine and champagne, and I don't think that's far wrong!

This was a present for my Father’s 80th Birthday. He wanted a Lambrusco to go with his Birthday Lunch. Pierre Marco White recommended this wine a few years ago in the ‘Telegraph’. It did not disappoint. Definitely better served very chilled.

light, not too sweet, neither clingy nor cloying and surprisingly zingy and refreshing. It cannot possibly be related to the red lambrusco i drank 30 years ago at a friend’s fancy dress 18th and was very ill. i would buy it again. though i would have preferred a cork.

Great wine for any occasion. Naturally fresh and light.

Wayyyyy more complex than pink champagne (at even £10 a bottle more) – violets and roses as well as red fruit, and with enough structure to handle quite a range of dishes.

I did this as part of a Lambrusco wine dinner/supperclub and it was many people’s wine of the night.

The idea that this is still delivering this level of freshness even at this bottle age still boggles my mind slightly. Really, really good.

I first encountered this Lambrusco on a holiday in Bologna during the recent heatwave and loved how refreshing and easy-going it was. I was determined to find it back home in the UK via Buon Vino. Best enjoyed very chilled and outdoors!
