Marcillac Vieilles Vignes Domaine du Cros, delicious, old vines, dark fruits, supple yet concentrated Mansois. Domaine du Cros makes two styles of Marcillac and this one is certainly the more serious. This is an aged wine and spends 18 months in old oak casks and expresses all sorts of dark fruits and intense forest flavours. Made from 80 year old vines it is delicious wine and a fantastic value Vin de Garde. Marcillac is a tiny obscure appellation near Clairvaux in Aveyron comprising some eight growers. The wines here are made exclusively from the Mansois grape, otherwise known as Fer or Fer Servadou in Gaillac.
