Meunier Walgate Wines 2022 Natural wine made with grapes that are produced using biodynamic and regenerative farmimng methods on a mix of clay soils in East Sussex. 78% Pinot Meunier and 22% Pinot Noir.
A mixture of whole bunches, whole berries and crushed berries were layered in concrete vat. Sealed and left to their own devices for three weeks, the tank was emptied with the free run and press wine heading back to concrete for four months before transferring to stainless steel and barrel.
A very light and delicate wine which is moreishly thirst quenching. Red fruit dominates the palate with hints of pomegranate and cherry with a floral edge, but there is a definite savoury side to the wine with smokey notes and a touch of white pepper. Delicious chilled in the garden on a sunny day!
