As the nights draw in and the heating goes on, we thought we’d put together a little selection to help you through the winter months! Not just reds, but some deep whites, wintery rosés and orange wine as well, so you’re covered for all eventualities!
Espontaneo is a natural white wine made from Grenache Noir from the Languedoc. A lovely rich texture, complexity and deep fruits – don’t serve this too cold to allow the flavours to develop. Perfect for a chicken casserole. Pellarosa is a structured, flavoursome rosé that has all the intensity you’d expect from the grape Aglianico. Ideal for tuna or glazed ham. Ageno is a fantastic orange wine made from Malvasia. Aromatic, honeyed with a lush mouthfeel. Try with some hearty cheeses. Onto the reds, we have an unsulphured Tempranillo from Spain in the form of Tinto de Valdecastrillo, rustic and satisfying. Tout nature is outstanding: earthy, savoury and also zero added sulphur! Finally, Componimento – a blend of Nero di Troia, Sangiovese and Montepulciano – has soft sweet fruits and spice, reminiscent of an amarone. Try with herby sausage and mash, or gorgonzola.
