Natural Summer Roses – bottles – mixed case, natural Roses, diversity, complexity, freshness, low sulphites, drinkability, these Roses have it all. Rose can be dull, Rose can be a cheap throw away wine but it absolutely shouldn’t. Rose is a superb way of capturing the flavour of the grape in a lighter, less tannic and easier way. Roses are often served chilled but don’t have to be, especially the fuller bodied examples. Roses are great on their own for an apero. But some are also superb food companions and match lighter dishes where reds are too much.
In this box of delicious Natural Summer Roses, there is 100% natural wine, diversity of flavour, style and grape and loads of superb Rose drinking. At Buon Vino, we love the natural wines which are outside the box. Often the Rose is the wine which the producer experiments with. Natural producers will sometimes not add sulphur to the wine. Natural Pinks seem to lend themselves to this and they are open, a little yeasty and super drinkable.
In the is box, all the wines are under 50 mg/litre, the Courtois and Zaza have none added. It is also a box in which we find some of our favourite producers. Mailolles, Courtois, Milan, these are biodynamic wineries with near Iconic status. Moraza, Cacciagalli and Ampeleia, a little lesser known yet ever so delicious. Look out for the Aglianico from Cacciagalli, a Natural Summer Rose with 14% abv, very good structure and a little more tannin than usual. The grape Aglianico makes very intense, tannic red for ageing. As a Rose, it is different, deep coloured, intense strawberry and herbs on nose and palate and super with BBQ Toulouse sausage and peppers.
