Peceguina Rose Maladinha 2024 De facto organic Rose wine from Herdade de Maladinha in Alentejo although not currently certified the estate focuses heavily on sustainable viticulture, biodiversity, hand harvesting and careful vineyard management. The vines are grown on predominantly well drained schist soils encouraging deep root penetration reducing vine vigour helping to produce highly concentrated grapes.
Hand harvested early in the morning and transported to the winery in small 12kg crates to keep the grapes fresh and free from any spoilage. The wine undergoes a short period of cold skin contact and is produced using a combination of the direct pressing and ‘saignee’ methods of rose wine production. Fermented for 21 days in stainless steel tanks at low temperatures and matured in steel for 7 months to add texture and assist in flavour integration. Pale salmon pink in colour with fresh strawberry, raspberry and redcurrant on the nose. Medium bodied with crisp acidity and a long clean finish.
