Peceguina Tinto Maladinha 2023 De facto organic Rose wine from Herdade de Maladinha in Alentejo although not currently certified the estate focuses heavily on sustainable viticulture, biodiversity, hand harvesting and careful vineyard management. The vines are grown on predominantly well drained schist soils encouraging deep root penetration  reducing vine vigour helping to produce highly concentrated grapes.

Peceguina tinto is the flagship estate red from Herdade de Maladinha. It is Bold and full bodied whilst also retaining some lovely freshness and tight structure. After careful hand harvesting and transportation to the vineyard and a meticulous sorting process the fermentation takes place  in traditional lagares synonymous with Portuguese wine making as well as stainless steel tanks. Post fermentation the wine is matured for 9 months in French oak barrels, giving subtle spice and toasty notes. Deep ruby in colour with notes of blackberry, black cherry, wild berries combined with red fruit and a touch of spice and vanilla from the oak. Beautiful full bodied with ripe polished tannins, classic in style red from Alentejo.

Paulo and Joao Soares started the Malhadinha winery in Alentejo back in 1998 with the first vintage in 2003.  Since then, the winery has gone from strength to strength and had since embraced organic, biodynamic, and regenerative practices across all their agricultural and livestock activities. This holistic approach imbues the wines with a true terroir expression and energy, re-enforcing Malhadinha’s status as one of Portugal’s top wine estates.

The estate is now also a top holiday destination in its own right, boasting a luxury country house hotel with Michelin Green Star restaurant, an award-winning horse stud farm, and some of the region's finest black pigs and DOP Alentejano cattle.

Our range from Malhadinha, the Monte da Peceguina, meaning 'wines from the hills' are delicious, easy, precise and well balanced wines, full of fruits, texture and subtle complexity.  Three wines which are instant crowd pleasers.
