Quinta dos Roques Dao Tinto. At around 450m, Quinta dos Roques lies in the Dao heartland, just outside Abrunhosa do Mato. Luis and Luisa Lourenco lead this family estate, producing a wide array of meticulously assembled wines, where both traditional blending, and varietal offerings both excel. The Touriga Nacional here is often cited as Portugal’s finest, while Quinta dos Roques Encruzado is regularly rated as one of the country’s leading dry white wines. Fashioned from Touriga Nacional, Alfrocheiro and Tinta Roriz the Roques Tinto sets the benchmark for the estate’s red wine. Tank fermented and aged for 6-9 months in new and seasoned barriques, it has a deep, black fruit intensity and combines silky texture with elegant flavours and freshness. For 14 quid, it is an absolute bargain!
