Raisins Gaulois Gamay Lapierre 2025

Raisins Gaulois Gamay, natural wine, organic fruit, lip smacking, fun red from acclaimed Beaujolais family. From the famous Lapierre estate, now run by Marcel’s son and daughter. This is superb fresh crunchy young Gamay, a wine that is ideal for summertime drinking with a picnic, or sat at the side of the road watching the bike race and munching some cheeses and salami with bread. It is fresh, vibrant and natural, and above all, fun to drink. The Gamay provides authentic Frenchness and little red fruits; carbonic maceration and low sulphur bring the wine alive and tingle on the tongue. Delicious stuff!

In 1973, Marcel Lapierre took over the family business which was started at the start of the century. Eight years later, under the guidance of Jules Chauvet, a renowned local winemaker, Marcel decided to vinify his wine without any added sulfur.  This was pretty revolutionary at the time.

Marcel met his future wife Marie when she came to the winery during the 1980 harvest. He was instantly charmed by her energy, passion and integrity. They began working side by side in 1982. In addition to supervising the harvest every year, Marie started to develop their customers throughout France, customers who shared their unique natural vision of viticulture and winemaking.

In 2010 Marcel sadly passed away but his vision and commitment to natural wine continues to influence people today.  Mathieu Lapierre, Marcel's eldest son began working at the domaine in 2004.  In 2013, he was joined by his sister, Camille. Both Mathieu and Camille currently co-own and operate the family winery alongside their mother Marie, and with the same commitment and dedication as their predecessors.

The wines of Chateau Cambon come from vineyards scattered between Morgon and Brouilly, with some special vines upwards of 80 years old.  In following Marcel's vision from the 1970s, the Lapierre estate continues to make wines that express the purity of Gamay and the special granitic terroir of the Beaujolais region.  All the wines are made fully in line with natural production methods and as well as being authentic and delicious, they still represent outstanding value for money.
