Sandgrove Riesling Continental Platter 2022

Sandgrove Riesling Continental Platter, organic wine, natural production, clean, crisp, zesty Riesling, very easy drinking, dry, mineral, delightful.  Sandgrove is part of a joint project between Les Caves de Pyrene and Xavier Goodridge.  Together, they wanted to focus on producing a range of Australian wines where great care has
been taken to source quality fruit and distribute them to the market at exceptional value.  The grapes for Sandgrove Riesling are farmed by the Bruer Family at Temple Bruer in Eden Valley.  This region is widely recognized as producing some of Australia’s finest Riesling.  The climate is cool and soils are loamy and acidic, with shallow rock and shale.  The farming is certified organic.  At Sandgrove they make the wines naturally with indigenous yeasts.  They inhibit the Malolactic for Riesling with cooling.  This preserves the pure character and freshness of the Riesling grapes.  

Sandgrove Riesling is delightful, fairly uncomplicated, crisp, dry, linear and a real crowd pleaser.  The wines has plenty of primary fruit characteristics with explosive lime and apple.  For Riesling lovers, this is an ideal midweek wine, not to expensive and fantastic as an aperitif or with a whole array of lighter foods.

Continental Platter is a partnership between Les Caves de Pyrene and their Australian distribution platform, Puncheon Bottles.

This marriage was born from an unrewarding search for big-production Australian wines that were both extremely drinkable and also available for distribution in the local Australian and UK markets. Together with winemaker Patrick Sullivan, they embarked on a wine making project with the focus on producing a range of Australian wines from carefully sourced, quality fruit, produced using natural and sustainable methods and delivering them to the market at exceptional value. The result is continental platter and the results are excellent.
