Consono, Verdicchio, Accadia Marche white, clean, crisp, bright and nutty! Verdicchio Consono is classically taught, crispy, minerally and slightly sour from a great producer called Angelo Accadia. I had one of the best tastings and lunches at a winery ever here! A hot day driving round in a van with a bunch of enthusiasts was made all the more enjoyable after 5 hours at Angelo’s very modest little winery in Serra San Quirico just up the river Jesi from Ancona. Accadia’s entry level Verdicchio Consono is delicious on its own, or with a little fresh fish or an ‘Amatriciana’! It ages really well too! Although not a fully fledged natural wine, Angelo’s approach is very minimalist, his vineyard is untouched, bedraggled and certainly not sprayed with chemicals and his wines are very pure and authentic examples of Verdicchio.

Ageing Potential Angelo reckons 10 years!
Angelo Accadia is a lovely guy, full of warmth and creativity. He is an artist as well as a winemaker and moved to the Marche area from Milan to follow his two passions. After making wine for friends for a few years he was encouraged to make a bit more from his small estate and now produces about 20,000 bottles a year of outstanding authentic Verdicchio.
From the beginning he has always handled every step of the production in person, from vineyard management to the cellar. The wines of Angelo Accadia are full of personality, just like the winemaker himself, resulting in a unique artistic expression.
He’s also now experimenting with skin contact, and bottling without filtration, with cuvées such as Evelyn making an appearance. If you like Verdicchio, it is a must try wine!
