Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Innocenti 2015

Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Innocenti, 100% Prugnolo Gentile (Sangiovese), two years in oak, mature vintage, leather and spice over soft red fruits, delicious. A lovely example of this classic Sangiovese based wine which sometimes plays second fiddle to the more exulted Brunello appellation. Vino Nobile from the town of Montepulciano (not to be confused with the grape of the same name from Abruzzo and the Marche) is an elegant example of Sangiovese with great ageing potential and a lovely soft warmth which makes it supremely drinkable around Autumn time.

The Innocenti estate lies between Montepulciano and Montefollonico and consists of about 32 hectares of which 12 are vineyard.

The estate is situated between 330 and 350 metres above sea level on medium-textured clay soils of Pliocene origin. Steeped in history, the cellar buildings date back to end of the 13th century, are in the small, well-preserved medieval town of Montefollonico. Most of the estate is dedicated to Sangiovese, although some Canaiolo Toscana is also found here and used in the blend. Whilst not one of our natural wineries per se, they embody traditional Tuscan wines, rather than pandering to international markets.
