Welschriesling Vom Opok Werlitsch 2019, natural wine, little cloudy, funky nose, stunning purity and zippy freshness, classy stuff. The so-called ‘Opok’, a local chalky marl builds the foundation of the hills, giving these wines their singular character. Werlitsch hands off approach to wine making is evident in the grippy, zingy complex Welschriesling which fascinates with every sip. Like all Werlitsch wines, it spends 18 to 30 months in barrel before being bottled so the wine is already maturing nicely when released and will continue to age. Delicious and high quality wine from a region becoming known as the Burgundy of Austria.
