Quinta do Infantado Late Bottled Vintage Port, unfiltered, bright rich and spicey. A truly excellent alterative to a Vintage port at a good price, highly recommended with Stichelton from the Courtyard Dairy

Quinta do Infantado has been owned by the Roseira family for over 100 years and is known for being one of the few estates which bottles its production on the estate, rather than shipping the wine down the Douro River. The name 'Infantado' derives from 'Infante' (the Portuguese for Prince) and it was the Portuguese royal family who first built the winery in 1816, as a place where they could collect taxes in the form of grapes and wine. Joao Roseira now runs the winery. Located in Douro subregion of Cima Corgo, Pinhão is known for making the best Ports and dry wines, and has an altitude of 150 metres above sea level. All the Infantado vineyards have achieved the highest 'A' Grade status and the poor schist soils impart excellent concentration and flavour to the grapes.
