Details

Rosa di Fonterenza Sangiovese Rose 2015, biodynamic wine, pure Tuscany, fruity and opulent Rose redolent of flowers and summer fruits. The 100% free run juice Rose from Fonterenza shows Sangiovese's great ability to make this style of wine. The fruit is still complex, layered, spicy and earthy but the wine is delightfully light, uplifting, crunchy and moreish. Notes of summer strawberries abound and the wine has very easily enough going on to match a whole array of fine Tuscan cuisine.

Fonterenza was founded by two twin sisters Margherita and Francesca Padovani in 1999. They started their life long dream with just 1.5 hectares which has now grown to 4.2 hectares so the production is still tiny. But small is beautiful and these two sisters make truly beautiful wines. Their lovely natural vineyard site lies on clay-limestone soils 420 metres above sea level with a South exposition and all the work is done according to biodynamic principles. In good years they use no sulphur at all and the wines often have that lovely vibrancy and life of wine that is unveiled from sulphur. The Brunellos are sublime, rich nectars with minerality and depth.
