Details

Rosso Vilgiano Sangiovese Marchionni, Organic wine, Natural Wine, 100% Sangiovese from the Colli Fiorentini, (near Florence), 5 hectare estate, soft, supple and elegant Sangiovese made with no intervention. There are approx 50 mg/litre sulphites in this wine, made with wild yeast, no fining, filtration, and fermentation in cement tanks. The aim is to preserve the primary fruit, freshness and slight sour cherry flavour characteristic of Sangiovese. Malolactic takes place naturally so the wine is soft, 'Morbido' and yet very elegant, subtle notes of red cherry, dried raspberry, undergrowth, forest floor, herbs. Delicious Autumnal wine.

The winery is located in the area of Chianti Colli Fiorentini, on ideal lands for grapes and olive-trees. Stony, well exposed to the west/south-west, the soils have an alkaline nature and a varying composition, with a high concentration of limestone, mixed with marl, sand, and loose clay. The average slope is steep at almost 15%, with much steeper slopes further up which maximises exposure to the sun. Temperatures vary significantly from day to night and strong breezes cool down the vineyards in the summer months because of the height thus yielding higher acidity in the grapes. There are just 5 hectares of vineyards and all the lots are attended to with the utmost care. Sangiovese accounts for about 70% of the surface area of vineyard, with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot making up the rest. The vines are manage by Paolo and Lorenzo themselves with obsessive love, in the belief that only with passion and sacrifice can they achieve important and long-lasting results. The production is based on organic principles and the wine making approach is always focused on utmost respect for the natural properties of wines, never using selected yeasts and with a minimal addition of sulphur dioxide. Only with strict grape selection at the harvest can they minimise the interventions in the cellar. Three labels expressing our utmost pride and passion. On one hand, the more straightforward Rosso Vigliano, a wine allowing endless matching options. On the other, the Crus, the vineyard selection: L’Erta Bosco della Roveta Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon, an austere and powerful wine, suited for the most challenging matches; L’Erta Poggio della Bruna Sangiovese 100%, the best expression of the local variety. They also produce a superb little Chardonnay with no oak but but soft subtle fruits and lovely texture. Paolo and Lorenzo are dedicated wine brothers and produce natural wines with style and elegance that in no way funky but are just easy and delicious to drink.
