Details

Sancerre La Vigne Blanche Henri Bourgeois half bottle, 100% Sauvignon Blanc, acclaimed producer, steely, crisp, dry Sauvignon. Sancerre Vigne Blanche comes from vines grown on slopes separating the village of Chavignol from Sancerre, the terroir being an amalgam of clay and limestone chalk. Oak aged in barrel for five months on the fine lees, La Vigne Blanche is vinous with herbaceous notes of elderflower and ivy as well as a hint of kiwi fruit. A classic in the modern sense of Sauvignon Blanc, crispy all the way to the apple tree, for those who love lip smacking white wine and racy acidity! Good with Oysters, we eat them all the time up here in Yorkshire! The half bottle makes a lovely little elegant treat for one on a Friday night with some fish!

Domaine Henri Bourgeois is an acclaimed producer whose wines still exhibit the complexity of the terroir of Chavignol, being chalky with a touch of gunflint, initially steely, then ripening in the mouth with a broad array of flavours and wonderful length. Though producing conventional wines, Bourgeois does represent the best of the region.
