Sizzano DOC Paride Chiovini 2012, rare tiny appellation within Ghemme, Nebbiolo, Vespolina, Uva Rara, aged in barrels, rich, full, structured and complex. The tiny Sizzano appelllation is based around the village of the same name. The wine is based on Nebbiolo with small amounts of Vespolina and Uva Rara and is aged in barriques for 2 years. This wine has a unique aroma, intensely eucalyptus or aniseed with dark dried fruits, cut through with fresh acidity and a finish which warms the mouth and keeps going and going. A delicious example of Piemonte red at its best, the wine has an immense capacity for ageing as well becoming more gamey and complex after 8-10 years in bottle.

Production was started when Giuseppe Garibaldi took over his grandfather's vineyard as a hobby, gradually expanding to a full time venture, where he now holds 3 hectares of land. Many of his wines are named after Greek gods and heroes of Ancient Greece to reflect their unmistakable personalities which all stem from a common root. Today the vineyard is maintained with respect for the land and all the operations on the vines are performed by hand. The vineyards are in Ghemme, one of the few regions of the World outside of the Langhe in which Nebbiolo can truly thrive and produce classy wines.
