Soave Classico Castelcerino Filippo Filippi MAGNUM, organic, fresh, leesy, minerally. Castelcerino is the entry level wine from Filippi but is far from basic. 100% Garganega from 70 year old vines, fermented with natural yeast at a cool temperature. This wine is a pure expression of the excellent terroir it comes from and shows that Garganega can make really elegant and fresh wines and doesn't need beefing up by oak ageing. It spends 4-6 months on the lees, giving it a medium straw colour with a light slightly earthy but fresh aroma of white fruits and apple blossom with great minerality on the palate and a persistent finish. Lovely wine for summer drinking with fish, salads and light pasta dishes. Organic production also means very low sulphur use and only at bottling. Fantastic terroir wine, purity and terroir with no funkiness. This Magnum is perfect for a dinner party! We have 1 Magnum of 2014 left, nicely mature and drinking very well.
Filippo Filippi has a highly respected organic estate in Castelcerino, at the heart of Soave, Veneto. The vineyards in are 320-400 metres above sea level (the highest in the region) and the presence of the nearby forest creates an ideal micro-climate which is always ventilated and characterised with good temperature range between day and night. All this contributes to the persistence of perfumes and aromas in the wine. His wines are made organically with low sulphur and some biodynamic practices.
