Our Christmas Cases are here, 6 and 12 bottles of carefully selected natural wines, all you want for Christmas!
6 bottles of natural wine, with everything you need for the Christmas table. The Sottoriva is a crowd pleaser bottle of fizz, dry, easy, low sulphites and gluggable. It makes the perfect light aperitif at midday! Les Clous is a superb cool climate Chenin from the Pays Nantais with soft stone fruits, subtle cream and honey. It is outstanding value from a very well known biodynamic winery. Then a fantastic Blaufrankisch from the lovely Judith Beck, one of our favourites from Burgenland, fruit driven and fresh, a versatile red to match all sorts of food. The big red is one of our finds of the year, Rasdu from Causses Marines in Gaillac. The wine is made from 100% Duras from the hot 2018 vintage. It is rich, smooth and delicious. Although full bodied, it is so good, everyone will like it. Rasdu is great for all manner of main courses but especially try it with Lanark Blue which is a Roquefort style cheese sold at our friends, the Courtyard Dairy. What a cheese and wine combination this is. Finally, included are two delicious stickies for your cheese board and dessert. The excellent Tawny Dee Port from Niepoort and La Cosa, ‘The Thing’. This quirky but excellent dessert wine, made in an oxidative style will go particularly well with your mince pies or Xmas pudding. We hope to have put together a lovely case of Xmas wine, not too expensive but delicious and high quality festive drinking. Cin Cin….
Christmas Wine Selection 12 bottles 2022. Everything you need for a BIG Christmas dinner table. We kick of with two bottles of superb bubbles. La Vie Danse is biodynamic Pet Nat made in the Loire from local varieties and has the aroma and delicacy of fine Champagne with a lovely soft palate and a slightly nutty character, so easy to drink. Next up, you have a crisp Mountain wine called Monfarina made from biodynamically farmed Jacquere just outside Chambery in the Alpes. It is great on its own or for starters, and also good with Smoked Salmon. The second white is a full bodied Chenin from Radford Dale in South Africa, a stylish wine for the main course, recently tasted and drinking beautifully well. The reds are designed for Xmas fayre. Le Vallon is gentle and elegant and perfect for Turkey. We recommend opening it well ahead of time to allow it to open fully. The Saperavi from a highly respected Georgian winery called Pheasants Tears is outstanding value red, full of intense colour and dark fruits. Called Madlieri, it is a great wine for beef or any red meat. Both colours of dessert wine are included for puddings and cheese. The Banyuls they say is the best wine in the world with Chocolate, and Grain de Folie would be a match in quality for many a posh Sauternes. We think this is a fabulous case of wine for a large family and plenty of festive cheer. All the best. Cin Cin.
