Stralunato Vermentino Il Torchio, Vermentino and a little Moscato, natural wine, low sulphites, stainless steel, 4 days skin contact, ripe and soft, only 1500 bottles made. The grape is indigenous to this beautiful area of the Ligurian hinterland. This new top cuvee of Vermentino is made from the ripest fruit and fermented wild in steel before a further refinement in barrels. Like the wines of Provence made from the same variety (called Rolle in France), the Vermentino takes very well to the wood and produces a wine of contrasting freshness and richness. Absolutely delicious with some seafood like crab or lobster.

Il Torchio is the name given to the traditional olive press to be found in every village along the Ligurian coast in the past. The locals would all press their own olives at the same Torchio and distribute the virgin oil amongst them. Luigi Tendola always had such a press and for generations has been pressing the local olives from his native town of Castelnuovo Magra. The wine production came later when Giorgio took over from his father and started to bottle wines under the Colli di Luni appellation using local varieties Vermentino and the rare Vermentino Nero. This was start but this tiny winery has been revolutionised by Giorgio's children Gilda and her brother Edoardo who are 4th generation wine makers and have taken the traditional wine making of their region and added a bit of funk! All the vines are farmed organically and wine making is natural with indigenous yeasts, steel tanks, and virtually no fining, filtration and sulphur. The wines are classic in flavour and deliciously fresh and natural, the unusual Torchio Nero being particularly delicious with its resinous flavours and soft red fruits. The super cool labels designed by well known Italian artist Giorgio Musante, represent the vibrancy and youth of the wine makers and also the sunshine in the wine!
