Terre de Silice Reynaud Heaule, Biodynamic wine, low sulphur wine, Menu Pineau, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, all the flavours of the land and the grape burst out of this textured and delicious natural wine. The authenticity of this style of Loire white wine always conjures up images for me of earthen pots filled with Pate and old gnarly Saucisson Sec with cheeses and lots of french sticks laid out on a knackered table in an old wine cellar. This is an image I love and the fabulous Menu Pineau grape often takes you there. Reynaud's Silice is delicious with a capital D, rich and soft and full but fresh as a daisy and sharp as a knife. Don't expect elder-flower, green apples and asparagus aromas here, this is the genuine and natural taste of the Loire, fantastic!

Reynald has worked in several wineries in Burgundy and the Loire. A disciple of Claude Courtois, he still does part time work for his mentor but spends most of his time in his own 3 hectares of closely planted vines. Assiduous work in the vineyard and long ageing periods complement Reynald’s atypical selection of grape varieties: Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay, Gascon and Pinot Gris are just a few of the 20 varieties he grows. The wines are in a similar vein to those of Claude and his son Julien Courtois, alive, pulsing, earthy and raw yet with a finesse which belies their rustic and non interventionist roots. Reynaud's wines also have a lovely approachability and for those new to the true taste of Loire white wines (as not crispy apples and citrus), Reynaud Heaule is a great producer to start with.
