Details

Testalonga El Bandito Mangaliza, Craig Hawkins, Natural, floral, rich, complex Harslevelu. made by Craig Hawkins, using the Hungarian grape variety called Hárslevelü planted in a single Swartland vineyard in 1971. This is the grape most commonly associated with Tokaji wines from Hungary. This wine has floral, peach and pear characteristics, as well as depth and poise. It also has a rich texture and long finish!

Craig Hawkins is a young winemaker based in the Swartland, South Africa, where he rents about 11ha of vineyard. Having travelled extensively throughout Europe, he now makes makes 8 wines under his own Testalonga label and has taken over the winemaking at Lammershoek. Each vintage is experimental and we think they're getting better each year. These are beautiful natural hand-crafted wines from low yielding vines, wild ferments and nothing added except a little SO2 at bottling.
