The serious sister of Atanasius, Theodora is serious wine, complex and intellectual with depth and body, intriguing aromas of under ripe melon, kiwi and yeasty notes. The 2015 has a little CO2 captured to help preserve the wine as there was no sulphur added at bottling, so it's bottled under a crown cap not a cork. The light fizz adds a zippy lift to the wine although it bubbles off after 30 mins in decanter to reveal more of Theodora's body and complexity. The wine is dryer than other years and more racey so for lighter more elegant fish dishes, it is excellent.
Gut Oggau is a 14 hectare Austrian wine estate located in the province of Burgenland by the Lake Neusiedl. The estate is run by Eduard Tscheppe and his wife Stephanie, daughter of a 2 Michelin star restaurant owner. It is a certified biodynamic estate with each wine coming from a single plot of vines with different terroirs showing different expressions in the wine. The individual personalities of the wine are expressed in the faces on the labels created by Jung von Matt (German designer) and brought together in the Gut Oggau family tree. A unique and fascinating way of describing the wines, they taste every bit as intriguing as the labels suggest.

I bought this wine as part of a set of wines to try from Gut Oggau. I matched them with an alpine feast of Wiener schnitzel, rosti, tartiflette, choucroute garni.
This wine worked wonderfully with them all actually but particularly well with the sausage casserole.
We preferred this to the other Gut Oggau White we tried- Emmeran as it was slightly lighter.

This is my favourite natural wine at the moment. Discovered at Elliots restaurant in Borough Market, I couldn't help but buy some bottles with Buon Vino. Would definitely recommend - delicious and great value.
