Tresillo 1874 Amontillado Sherry Hildalgo, 100% Palomino grape, very fine sherry. This wine comes from a solera dating back to 1874, which is virtually the same age as the winery! This Amontillado averages about 50 years of age. Only about 3,000 bottles are released annually. It combines concentration and finesse, complexity and character. On the nose it is full, layered and complex, with notes of hazelnut, cedar, cinnamon, orange peel and beeswax. In the mouth there is an explosion of caramel and toasted nuts, balanced by tang, creaminess and fantastic length. Enjoy on a winter's night, in front of the fire of a mountain chalet, with a bowl of freshly roasted and salted nuts, still warm. It is also recommend to accompany stews, structured meats such as game and old, smoked or seasoned cheeses. Sherry does not get better than this!
This bodega was founded in the mid nineteenth century by Emilio Hidalgo Hidalgo in the old part of the city of Jerez de la Frontera. The company is now owned by the fifth generation of his descendants. Currently the winery houses casks of the original wine used to found the company, which is carefully renewed and enriched by the fifth generation of the founding family dedicated to the wine industry.
