Description

Details

Vino di Anna Rosso, organic, fragrant, complex, multi-layered, ripe red fruits with savoury undertones, fiirm acidity and an austere tannin structure. The grapes are from 80 years old vines of Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio grown high on the north face of Mt Etna. The pressed grapes were macerated and fermented in oak casks, before ageing for 9 months in the same oak cask prior to bottling without fining or filtration.


Anna Martens and Eric Narioo started making wine together on Mount Etna in 2008. In 2010 they purchased their first vineyard of old vine Nerello Mascelese (ranging between 60 and 100 years) and a 250 yr old palmento and wine building which they restored and “Vino di Anna” was created. Today they own 6 hectares of land which they farm organically and they tend to and harvest by hand. They have extended the winery and buried 9 Georgian qvevri for vinification and maturation and now make a range of natural wines. Nerello Mascalese is the principal red grape. The wines are made with minimal intervention, natural yeasts, no additives, no fining or filtering. Little or no SO2 is used.
