Details

Weissburgunder Judith Beck, biodynamic, 100% Pinot Blanc (Weissburgunder), just off dry, wildly fruity. Judith Beck's entry level white wine is a lively and clean natural white wine, fruity and plenty of floral aromas. Very versatile, goes with all sorts of foods, including light curries!

Winery Judith Beck is a 15 hectare estate in Gols in Austria's Burgenland which has been farming biodynamically since 2007, aiming to respect the environment and produce the best quality grapes, using native Austrian varieties. Judith Beck herself studied abroad at places like Cos d'Estournel in Bordeaux and Errazuriz in Chile but returned home to take over from her father and move the winery in the direction of natural winemaking. They encourage the formation of humus as a basis of healthy soils, using their own natural composts and cultivating grass between the rows. Herbal remedies are also used and the vines are maintained under the rhythms of the moon. In order to produce authentic wines, they also avoid inoculated yeasts of any kind, and minimise sulphur, fining or filtration, with her Bambule! range epitomising this philosophy. These are sentiments and ideas we like at Buon Vino and the wines are really delicious, fresh and also great value for money, from an up and coming area that is producing some really excellent produce.

  1. How good is this wine?

    Adam13/05/2018

Starting with the good things, we eventually got to tropical fruits (mango, pineapple) with some ripe citrus (maybe pink grapefruit) and a lick of creaminess. But there was a real hit (and I mean REAL) of struck-match (which I think is a sign of reduction, correct me if I'm wrong). Now, I like that struck-match thing...but this overwhelmed the wine for me. It tailed away a little by aerating, but it was still pretty dominant.
